DAY OF SURGERY |
After your Procedure
- Rest on the day of your procedure.
- If you received sedation or general anesthesia, your reflexes and mental ability may be impaired even though you may feel normal.
- You may feel dizzy, lightheaded or sleepy for 24 hours or longer.
- Do not consume alcohol, drive, operate machinery, or make important personal or business decisions for 24 hours.
- If receiving general anesthesia, it is normal to feel generalized aching and sore muscles for 24 hours.
- A sore throat may occur.
- Drink plenty of fluids and progress to solids as tolerated.
- Call your doctor if you experience any of the following:
- Temperatures over 101°F
- Signs of infection
- Continued nausea/vomiting
- Excessive pain
- Swelling or bleeding
- Excessive drainage
- A surgery center nurse will call you the following day regarding your recent stay.
- In case of emergency, call 911 immediately.
