After your Procedure

  • Rest on the day of your procedure.
  • If you received sedation or general anesthesia, your reflexes and mental ability may be impaired even though you may feel normal.
  • You may feel dizzy, lightheaded or sleepy for 24 hours or longer.
  • Do not consume alcohol, drive, operate machinery, or make important personal or business decisions for 24 hours.
  • If receiving general anesthesia, it is normal to feel generalized aching and sore muscles for 24 hours.
  • A sore throat may occur.
  • Drink plenty of fluids and progress to solids as tolerated.
  • Call your doctor if you experience any of the following:
    • Temperatures over 101°F
    • Signs of infection
    • Continued nausea/vomiting
    • Excessive pain
    • Swelling or bleeding
    • Excessive drainage
  • A surgery center nurse will call you the following day regarding your recent stay.
  • In case of emergency, call 911 immediately.
